  • 1522

New building by Konradin Walter and Peter Behrens

  • 2000 - 2001

Restoration of the sandstone facade in coordination with the historic preservation authorities

  • A gem of Nuremberg’s architectural history

Built in 1888–1889 by architecture professor Konradin Walter with significant input from renowned architect Peter Behrens, our building is an outstanding example of the Nuremberg style—inspired by the forms of the early 17th century.

Elements from the previous building, dating from 1522, such as the historic bay window (“Chörlein”) and the house Madonna, still lend our building character today and tell of its long history.

Extensive renovations were carried out in the 1990s, and in 2000/2001 the sandstone façade was restored under monument protection. Today, the German Emperor combines tradition with contemporary comfort – maintained by the same family for over a century.
